The Caladdi Story

We’re often asked what the name, Caladdi means. It comes from our two gorgeous kids, Caleb (8) and Addison (6), without whom, we would never have made this life changing decision.

We wanted to give them the opportunity of growing up in the country, and so in 2014 we sold both our businesses, our home, and basically packed up city life for the KZN Midlands.

We arrived here from Durban on 27 May 2014 not knowing much at all about running a country bed and breakfast. All we had to go on, was our experience in the corporate service industry, and our own home hosting skills – the rest we had to wing!

Suffice to say, we’ve learnt a lot and met some wonderful and interesting people along the way. And although its been challenging at times, we would do it all again in a heartbeat. To wake up with our kids every day, and live in this kind of environment, is priceless.

Our first mission was to get our B&B up and running, and on the map. Once that was done, in March 2015 we started our Wacky Wednesday tea garden for the locals which is still going – and has become a popular event that brings together local families.

Then in mid-2016 we renovated an old horse feed room into an art room and held unique art retreats with ZULU LULU Art House’s Trayci Tompkins in the driving seat.

We love spending time as a family together, and welcome you into our home. You may arrive a stranger but we can almost guarantee, that you’ll leave as part of the extended Caladdi family.
